Acrylics

Acrylics is coming from Santa Rosa, California, and has been around since 2014.
I think I discovered them at that time with their first music video which got a really gloomy? dark? creepy? FREAKY taste!
Freaky they are, describing their sound as Freak Punk you can really feel that something is really wrong somewhere.
A bit like Black Flag playing the soundtrack of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Kinda.

And they kept working on it, making it always more angry, weirder, more insane...

Go get all their early releases!

And as work pays, they have built a strong reputation around their live performances and even Vice/Noisey started talking about them (here, here and there) and sure they deserve it.

So it brings us to now and the release of their first LP (finally!).
Sinking In is out on Iron Lung Records.
The band has grown up since the days of Fuck Freek, and for the better.
Faster, cleaner (a bit?), Acrylics is more hardcore, more serious and I like it.
Is Acrylics moving from FreakPunk to FreakCore ?

11 songs: from a 59s interlude (brillant idea!) to a 4:05 raging track, the band doesn't care about the rules or standards of the differente sub-genre of punk culture, they keep it real, they keep it angry and more importantly, they keep it weird!
Watch their latest music video!

Many punk hardcore albums are full blast all the way, not letting the pit rest for a second but Acrylics is smarter than that and let you catch your breath...
I mean we are still talking about raging punk but there are breaks, quiet parts and weird interludes... it goes up, it goes down... you almost think they're done and went to bed and BAM they're back, dancing on the table...
And that's the difference between a good and an excellent album, the management of the intensity!

I still hope I will have the chance to catch them live one day!

 A literally nose-breaking experience!

You can listen to Acrylics and other great gospel tunes on Rien à Faire #1.
